Evdokia Stefanopoulou

Evdokia Stefanopoulou is Assistant Professor in the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of the Aegean. She has taught film history and theory in the Anglophone MA program “Film and Television Studies” (2021–2024), as well as in the undergraduate program of the School of Film at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.). Dr. Stefanopoulou conducted postdoctoral research at the School of Film, A.U.Th. (2020–2022) as a recipient of a Humanities Excellence Scholarship from the university’s Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE). She holds a PhD in film history and theory from the same department, funded by a scholarship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) (2017–2019). She is the author of the monograph The Science Fiction Film in Contemporary Hollywood: A Social Semiotics of Bodies and Worlds (Bloomsbury, 2023), and has contributed several chapters to edited volumes as well as articles in academic journals. She is currently co-editing an academic volume on women directors and posthumanism. She also serves as a documentation researcher for the project +EMATEK: Virtual Museum and Repository of Greek Cinema (Filmography), coordinated by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (2023–2025). As of June 2025, she is a member of the research team for the three-year project “Plyta’s Unknown Cinema” (2025–2028), funded by H.F.R.I.
